Privacy Policy

How George County ARES handles visitor information and website analytics.

George County ARES respects the privacy of visitors to this website. We have deliberately designed this site to collect as little information about visitors as reasonably possible while still allowing us to understand whether the site and its resources are useful.

Website Analytics

We use Fathom Analytics to collect basic, aggregate information about use of this website.

Fathom is a privacy-focused analytics service. We use it to understand general website activity such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive at the site, and which website resources are being used.

Fathom processes limited request information, including IP address and browser user-agent information, to generate site-specific visitor signatures used for analytics. Fathom uses rotating salts designed to limit the ability to associate these signatures across days.

We do not use website analytics to create personal profiles of visitors or to follow visitors across unrelated websites.

For more information about Fathom’s privacy practices, see the Fathom Analytics Privacy Policy.

Cookies

This website does not intentionally use advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies.

Our use of Fathom Analytics is intended to provide aggregate website statistics without the conventional tracking-cookie model used by many advertising-oriented analytics platforms.

Other services reached through links on this website may have their own cookie and privacy practices.

Web Server Logs

Like most websites, our web server may automatically record technical information associated with requests made to the site.

Server logs may include information such as the requested page or file, date and time of the request, IP address, browser or user-agent information, referrer information, and HTTP status information.

These logs are used for normal website operation, troubleshooting, security, and traffic analysis.

Downloads and External Links

This website contains downloadable files and links to external websites and services.

When you follow a link to another website, including sites such as QRZ.com, GitHub, or other amateur-radio resources, you leave the George County ARES website. The privacy practices of those external services are governed by their own policies.

Similarly, files hosted by an external service may be subject to that service’s logging and privacy practices.

Calendar Subscription

George County ARES provides a public iCalendar feed at:

/calendar/events.ics

The calendar feed is a static file generated from the same event information used by this website.

Subscribing to the calendar causes your calendar application to periodically request that file from our web server. Those requests may appear in ordinary server logs.

Your calendar application or calendar provider may have its own privacy practices, which are outside the control of George County ARES.

Information You Choose to Provide

If you contact George County ARES by telephone, email, amateur radio, or another communication method, we may receive the information you choose to provide as part of that communication.

We use that information for the purpose of responding to the request, coordinating activities, providing assistance, or conducting normal organizational business.

Embedded Third-Party Content

We try to avoid unnecessary embedded third-party services.

Whenever practical, this website hosts its own images, scripts, stylesheets, documents, and other resources rather than automatically loading them from third-party services.

Where we provide links to mapping services, videos, social media, or other external services, we prefer ordinary links that require a visitor to choose to visit the external service rather than automatically loading third-party tracking or embedded content.

Sensitive Information

Please do not submit sensitive personal, medical, financial, or other confidential information through ordinary website links or email unless specifically requested through an appropriate method.

This public website is intended primarily to provide information about George County ARES, amateur radio, emergency communications, meetings, events, and related resources.

Children

This website is intended for a general audience interested in amateur radio, emergency communications, and George County ARES activities. We do not intentionally use the website to collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the website, its services, or applicable privacy requirements change.

The current version published on this page represents the privacy practices of the George County ARES website.
